Resolve the first unproven decision before booking another demonstration or authorising a wider purchase. Establish the first workflow, test whether your records and integrations can support it, require suppliers to demonstrate the difficult cases, and compare the full operating commitment—not just the subscription.
Our recommended point for specialist involvement is after defining the first-release scope but before accepting binding migration, implementation and licensing commitments. Bring an operating-model specialist in earlier if stakeholders cannot agree ownership, terminology or approval authority. Do not wait until configuration has embedded those disagreements.
This approach is consistent with the preparation activities described in KPMG’s GRC implementation guidance: process assessment, data rationalisation, migration planning, testing criteria and post-production support. That document describes a service methodology, not independently measured implementation outcomes. (kpmg.com)
How to use this guide: the decision gates, checklists, suggested weights and worked example below are this desk’s recommendations. They are not regulatory checklists, market benchmarks or promises of savings. Product documentation supports specific examples, not a platform ranking.
